Czech Theatre Review

The Czech journal for theatre studies Divadelní revue (Theatre Review) was founded at the Department for Czech Theatre Studies, which has been a part of the Arts and Theatre Institute in Prague. Currently it comes out three times per year as a fully reviewed periodical, consisting of thematic sections dedicated to historical and theoretical studies, analyses, essays, reviews, interviews, and documents related to Czech, as well as international theatre culture.

Divadelní revue is indexed in SCOPUS.

Submission Guidelines

We welcome submissions of articles in the following languages: Czech, Slovak, English, French, German and Polish. Please send your submissions in an electronic format (doc, rtf, odt) to the following address: divadelni.revue/at/ Consult alternative formats of submission (CD-ROM, memory stick etc.) with the editorial office. All submissions must contain the name of the author and contact information (email, phone number, address), and a short biographical note. Submissions of critical studies must include a résumé of maximum 200 words in Czech, and the English translation of the title where applicable. Please use footnotes, not endnotes. For the format for submitting photographs and other appendices, please consult the editorial office. The maximum length of submissions according to the genre is: 35 pages for critical studies, and 8 pages for reviews (including footnotes). A standard page is 1 800 keystrokes including spaces. Divadelní revue follows its own citation norm, based on the norm ČSN ISO 690 (see: The stylesheet is available at: Authors are responsible for obtaining clearance for photographs, illustrations and any other documents protected by copyright, as well as for re-published texts. Articles published in Divadelní revue may be quoted and re-published only with the author’s written permission and with full citation.
All submissions are blind reviewed; reviewers provide a complex evaluation, based on a standardized review form, including evaluation of the innovative approach to the content, methodological approaches, formal and stylistic levels, and thematic and genre relevance to the focus of the journal. Authors are informed of the result by the responsible editor. The editorial office reserves the right to edit the submissions, and to decide about their inclusion in the relevant section of the journal. Unsolicited submissions and materials are not returned.
