36th edition, Issue 2/2025
The second issue of Divadelní revue this year focuses on the theme of repetition and uniqueness in art. It shows that repetition is not merely a return to the same thing, but a way of attributing meaning, weight, and value to things. Only a repeated view often allows us to truly understand—to distinguish the essential from the banal, to recognize kitsch and exceptionality. Repetition also functions as a tool of memory: it saves the past from oblivion and gives it new meaning in the present. The texts in this issue examine how this principle manifests itself in theater, criticism, and writing itself, across different historical periods and artistic forms.
